Nelly Hampel
As a child growing up in Holland, Nelly would often sit around the kitchen table, surrounded by many craft projects. She became interested in Steiner education, and in particular, Steiner inspired craft, when one of her nephews attended a Waldorf school in Germany. Migrating to Australia at age 19, Nelly soon settled in Tasmania, where she now lives with her own family. Her two children attended the Hobart based Steiner School, and Nelly was inspired by the beautiful and thoughtful simplicity of Steiner craft. She soon explored Doll making, and has continued to enjoy this unique and gentle art for the last 15 years.
As well as making and selling her craft, Nelly loves teaching Doll making and sharing the tremendous satisfaction her participants gain from the experience. Nelly offers a fearless, positive environment, tailoring her workshops to each participant’s level of confidence. “Each participant has the same opportunity to succeed at their level, so they may create a product that they are 100% happy with”, beams Nelly. Her passion can be summed up with her statement, “Doll making workshops nurture the soul.”
